WallCandy is for grown-ups, too!
On this blog, we almost exclusively talk about wall decals. But did you know there are a bunch of products – ones appealing mostly to adult tastes – that are not wall decals but different types of home décor – all in delightfully unique designs?
Oh yes, we offer a line from notNeutral that is sure to whet your decorating appetite. These room accessories are both subtle and distinctive, excellent foundations on which to build your home environments.
Take, for instance, the area rugs. Have you ever noticed how the rug can make all the difference to any space? These spare yet friendly designs in two sizes pull the different elements of a room together.
Tired of that boring sheetrock look? Try some wood paneling! You won’t need hammer and nails, though; just a quick position-and-press application.
Most grown-ups love to pamper their guests with cool stuff. WallCandy products include ways you can set the table, with placemats and trivets, and serve your guests chips in our exquisite leaf bowl.
Oh, and do you like the gorgeous lanterns, lighting up an outdoor deck or walkway?
After your guests have gone home, cuddle up with a few throw pillows and our reversible quilt in the living room.
If you spend more of your time in the garden than anywhere else (or at least, it seems like you do),these garden stakes will surely catch your eye.
If you thought WallCandy was all about kids, think again. It’s going to be the holiday season soon, and your kids will again take center stage. But for a little while now, consider the ways WallCandy is your resource for casually sophisticated décor all around the house, and not just in the kids’ rooms.
Whether you’re a parent interested in instilling high aesthetic values in your children, or living in an adults-only household, you’ll find these designs intriguing. Intentionally spare, they serve as launching pads for the masterpieces of your own imagination!

Look how Grace Chesse sets the style in Shanghai
We assume you’re familiar with our Stores page, where we list the many fabulous retailers who carry WallCandy removable wall stickers. But have you taken a moment to check out those listed under ‘Outside ofthe US?’ Yes m’am, we are represented on fully six continents.
So this post is about one of the amazing retailers with the good sense and savvy to carry our products. She’s Grace Chesse, of Shanghai Lollipop, a children’s boutique in China– and she’s a dynamo!
Check out, for instance, her adorable backpacks (with matching beverage bottles), just in time for back to school. Or how about the clever changing table that turns into a small desk, then a large desk, then an organizer as your child grows. Kind of reminds us of our new Smarts® product.
At the very least, you’ve got to check out the On Sale page, where you’ll find bargains on the cutest toddler shoes, tee shirts, and even a few items to tempt Mom herself.
Look here to see all the WallCandy designs the company features. It seems we have Grace’s stamp of approval, and it’s a high honor. She’s clearly a savvy and tasteful businesswoman.
And of course, we’re grateful to all our many retail representatives. How about these folks in Spain? Or these in Australia? Is it possible that WallCandy has invented a new universal language?
Please let us know in the comments where you’ve been when you’ve seen WallCandy offered for sale. We’d love to hear your stories!
August 1st Fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation
It’s finally here! This wonderful benefit is a sizzling summer tradition for us at WallCandyArts. Held at Nova’s Ark Project in Water Mill, New York, the event this year is hosted by Donna Karan, Areil Foxman, InStyle, Kelly Ripa, and Blake Lively.
What is Super Saturday? Just the most fabulous one-of-a-kind designer garage sale and kids’ carnival you ever experienced, along with gourmet dining and exciting activities galore. Every year, Super Saturday raises thousands of dollars for ovarian cancer research. The deals are so good, even celebrities can’t resist!
Want to know what high quality brands are represented? Checkout the star-studded list. It may be a yard sale, but we’re talking honest-to-goodness glamour here.
Super Saturday was originally the brainchild of Harper’s Bazaar editor Liz Tilberis. We quote here from the OCRF website:
On a glorious summer afternoon in the summer of 1997, Harper’s Bazaar editor Liz Tilberis and Donna Karan invited their many designer and celebrity friends to donate their clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry for a sale on the lawn of Liz’s summer home in the Hamptons to benefit OCRF.
Liz had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was serving as OCRF’s president. She was one of the first women to publicly discuss her battle with ovarian cancer, helping to bring the disease into the public consciousness.
When Liz died in April 1999, Donna Karan, Faith Kates Kogan, and their dear friends decided to continue the summer designer garage sale in theHamptons. Now in its 12th year, the event continues to raise public awareness of ovarian cancer and fund research for better treatment and, ultimately, a cure.
For her creativity and style, generosity, zest for life, and love of family, we salute Liz Tilberis. The sense of joy, laughter, and gaiety that radiates throughout Super Saturday is a credit to her vision.
If you can’t make it to the sale, you can still participate through www.qvc.com, shopping online in the comfort of your home and spending for the benefit of cancer research. Designer items are on sale right now on the site, with more goodies available during the actual event on Saturday. And we’ll be sure to post some photos from the event ight here, so check back next week!
Interview at Milkshakes & Margaritas
As you know, we’re friends and admirers of the fine folks over at Milkshakes and Margaritas. Well, now they’ve done something we think is really pretty cool – an interview with Allison Krongard,WallCandy’s top mama.
Allison talks about her experiences as an entrepreneur and mom in this encouraging exchange, her choices and preferences, and some great photos. She even divulges her favorite place in the world.
Check out the post here, and be sure to read all the way to the end, as there’s an irresistible offer for you there!
We’re introducing a brand new WallCandy product. Each time we launch a new item, it reminds us of giving birth. At least, it’s almost as exciting!
After all, those brand new bundles of joy are what make the world go round, isn’t it true? That’s why this particular new set of non-toxic, removable wall decals is really special. It’sdesigned for newborns!
You may have heard about the research that’s been done on infant responses to certain shapes andcolors. They like repetitive geometric shapes, like checkerboards and targets. It seems they’re very happy with these in simple black-and-white, though they also soon come to love primary colors. And another thing your brand new baby loves is looking at people’s faces.
Well, the marriage of two great minds has now created a WallCandyArts product that you can stick on the wall near the baby’s changing table, crib, or bouncy seat. They’re customized for your baby’s eyes …and imagination!
It was when Danielle Gutherie and the Vega Project in San Francisco, experimented with some illustrations for her own very young children that she realized just how delighted they were by certain colors and shapes. She shared her discoveries with us at WallCandy, we got together on finalizing the designs, and now we’re so happy to share with you!
By the way, we did work with pediatricians in the development of these decals – all of whom roundly approved them for stimulating newborn brain activity. Dr. Charles Barsam, M.D., a prominent ophthalmologist, writes, “Images similar to those found in WallCandy Smarts™ have been scientifically demonstrated to capture a child’s attention and promote visual growth. Exposure to such images is important in developing a child’s best visual potential, whereas deprivation of such stimuli has been shown to be detrimental to a child’s development.”
Now, check this out. These are cool little designs in their own right, but there’s more.
1. When your child is fresh from the delivery room, you can use just the black and white stickers from your set.
2. As she puts on a couple months of age, you can add in some of the colored decals.
3. And then, before she exits infancy for a more mobile lifestyle, you can use the included frames (there are 6 in each set!) to put up pictures of your family along with the other shapes.
So your Smarts™display can change and grow with your baby, becoming more elaborate and personalized as her first year progresses.
Want a smart baby? Need a smart decorating solution? Think a picture that’s smart enough to change with time would entertain your new little family member? Get smart, and check out this new line!
New blog tickles our WallCandy fancy

OK, so you get one guess what a blog called Milkshakes and Margaritas is all about. You got it – way cool kids and their even cooler parents!
Our friends Tanya Schevitz and Danielle Gutherie, moms in San Francisco, are the drivers of this new daily read. Each the mother of 2 boys, they just started up the blog this month. Tanya also writes for several publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle. Danielle is a partner and designer in the San Francisco -based design studio, the Vega Project.
Pairing Tanya’s writing with Danielle’s graphic skills seems to be a brilliant idea! We really like the site’s design. Categories so far include Freebies and Giveaways, Father’s Day Gift Ideas, Loving This, and Things We’ve Learned. So there’s a nice combination of great product features and personal observations.
The site is dedicated to “all things kid and parent related.” We’re betting it’s going to become a leader. Check out this post, for instance, about Tom Robbins’ B is for Beer.
The bloggers would love to have your feedback in the comments there, as they nurture this new baby towards maturity. Grab their feed, and share with your friends. This site will delight any parent.
Not sure what to get Mom for Mother’s Day? How about a Mija Necklace.
I wear the mama bird and my daughter wears the baby bird. I bought them in Paris last summer and after we got so many compliments on them, I had to carry them on the site.
We’re offering 15% off these adorable necklaces. Why not pick one up for Mom and maybe one for yourself too!
Use the code MD15 at checkout.
We have taken special care to include the highest quality, kid and people friendly chalk in all our chalkboard kits. The chalk you find your WallCandy is dustless and DOES NOT contain the following common allergens: Latex, Dairy & Casein, Egg, Gluten, Peanut & Tree Nut or Soy.
We just got back from our latest show. It went very well. To the right is a picture of one of our newest items. This one is called Nightly News. Also shown to the left is our new packaging design. We got a lot of positive feedback. It seems like people are really excited about this!
